Backflip

Directed by Nikita Diakur · Starring Nikita Diakur · 2022

Rather than risk breaking his own neck, an animator hands the backflip over to his digital avatar, which must teach itself the trick through machine learning on a six-core processor.

A deadpan, gloriously glitchy experiment in which a machine-learning avatar flails its way toward a backflip.

Attempting a backflip is not safe. You can break your neck, or land on your head, or land badly on your wrists. None
