Five minutes to sea

Directed by Natalia Mirzoyan · Starring Elena Markina, Svetlana Pismichenko · 2018

On a summer beach, a little girl must wait five minutes before she can go back into the sea, a wait that feels endless, set against glimpses of old age and its very different sense of time.

An award-laden gem that captures how endless five minutes feel to a child, and how fleeting they become later in life.

The film shows a small but memorable moment from childhood, juxtaposed with the theme of old age and the difference in perception of time at the end and the beginning of life.
