Middle State
Directed by Jad Andari · 2026
After the 2024 war in Lebanon, a filmmaker travels through China at Spring Festival, his images narrated only by WhatsApp messages from friends and family.
A tender diary film where voice notes from home turn a trip through China into a meditation on belonging.
This film follows my trip through China during the Spring Festival season. The voice overs and music are entirely composed of Whatsapp messages from friends and family.
