My Mother's Coat

Directed by Marie-Margaux Tsakiri-Scanatovits · Starring Paola Dionisotti · 2010

In pencil-drawn animation, a filmmaker's mother recalls arriving in Athens after the dictatorship, struggling to fit into Greek life, raising children, and still longing for her small hometown in Italy.

An intimate, hand-drawn conversation between daughter and mother about exile, motherhood and the home you never stop missing.

My Mother talks to me about post-dictatorship Athens, her struggle to adapt to the greek mentality, her memories of motherhood, and her longing to go back to her small town in Italy.
