Serious Tingz

Directed by Abdou Cisse · Starring Andre Dwayne, Jez Jouavel, Nico Jouavel, Julian Wisdom · 2019

Through portraits and voiceover, young men from inner-city London explain the 'screwface' — not intimidation but armour in a place where a smile can cost you.

A striking three-minute think-piece that reframes a hard stare as a survival tactic, asking what a smile is worth.

A short tale on the face of masculinity, portrayed by young men who grow up in inner city environments. Where the iconic ‘screwface’ is more than just an expression, it’s a matter of life and death.
