Souvenir Souvenir

Directed by Bastien Dubois · Starring Bastien Dubois, Bernadette Dubois, Bruno Dubois, Malika Mouaci · 2020

For ten years, a filmmaker has pretended to be making a film about his grandfather's Algerian War memories. Now that it is time to listen, he isn't sure he wants to hear them.

A bold, beautifully animated confrontation with family silence and France's colonial past that refuses easy answers.

For ten years, I've pretended to make a movie out of my grandfather's Algerian war souvenirs. Today, I’m not sure I want to hear what he has to say.
