The Insatiable Hairy Frogfish

A long, close look at the striated, or hairy, frogfish, a shaggy-looking ambush predator that can swallow prey as big as itself.

Charming and unsettling in equal measure: the frogfish looks fluffy until it eats.

Don’t be fooled by its shaggy charm: the hairy frogfish eats prey its own size. A short nature video directed by Jose Lachat.
