The Rape of the Samburu Women

Directed by Iara Lee · 2011

Samburu and other Kenyan women who accused British soldiers of rape, and were cleared by an internal inquiry, find refuge in a women-founded village.

A sobering account of colonial impunity and the women who built their own sanctuary.

For more than fifty years, England has maintained military training facilities in the Samburu region of its former colony, Kenya. During this period, women in the area have faced an epidemic of rape.
