The Rose of Turaida

Directed by Ryan Grobins · Starring Astra Kronite · 2013

Based on a true story from 17th-century Latvia, a beautiful young woman faces a terrible choice to protect her love and her honour.

Told in a single unbroken shot, its shimmering particle animation reimagines sand animation with stunning fluidity.
