Two Cars, One Night

Directed by Taika Waititi · Starring Rangi Ngamoki, Hutini Waikato, Te Ahiwaru Ngamoki-Richards, Riwai Waka · 2003

Waiting in their parents' cars outside a rural pub one night, two young boys and a girl in the next car trade insults and glances, and something like first love begins to stir.

Taika Waititi's Oscar-nominated early short: a funny, tender black-and-white glimpse of first love in a pub car park.

Sometimes first love is found in the most unlikely of places, like in the carpark outside the Te Kaha pub.
