Yellow Fever

Directed by Ng'endo Mukii · Starring Chipo Kureya, Margaret Njeri Mereka, Sam Nokuzola Moyo, Abriani Njeri · 2012

Through family memories, interviews and her young niece's voice, a Kenyan filmmaker explores how globalised beauty ideals have taught African women to see their own skin as something to fix.

A striking mix of animation, dance and live action that makes the damage of colourism felt rather than lectured.
